About this place
Set within the residential streets of Shirakawa, Koto Ward, botan is an intimate counter spot dedicated to polished Japanese cooking and good drink. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere lends itself naturally to solo diners and parties of two settling in for a focused meal.
The blackboard menu moves through seasonal seafood and beverage-friendly small plates. From deftly sliced sashimi and rolled sushi to deeply flavored simmered dishes, each plate shows careful kitchen craft. Finishing courses are equally thoughtful, anchored by seasonal rice dishes such as sea bream rice cooked fresh to order.
The drinks list draws from regional sake breweries across Japan, poured chilled or warmed, alongside draft beer and honkaku shochu. Reservations are wise for evening dining, and because payment is strictly cash only, having yen on hand is essential before you visit.
